 Welcome to The Cake Shop at Spring Mills (formerly The Graham Design)!
Unlike some, I did not begin life as a decorator, but with a degree in history and a love of baking on the side. I began cake decorating as a creative outlet when our first daughter was born, and it took off from there. I am currently the CEO of our house, which is a full time job, and I am lucky enough to get to spend every day with our two girls, Katie and Carrie.
I have been teaching cake decorating for 4 years at the Hagerstown A.C. Moore craft store for Wilton, and I am a member of ICES (International Cake Exploration Society www.ices.org). I enjoy doing cakes for people out of my home, where I can continue to care for my children and help others celebrate the special events in their lives. My wonderful husband, Brian, is the assistant decorator/dishwasher/cake construction architect for me, along with whatever else I throw his way in a pinch! He has been amazingly encouraging considering the amount of cake paraphenalia that has now taken over the kitchen. At the age of 31, with two small children, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have finished all treatment as of March '04, and the prognosis is good; however, it is always something I will worry about now. This has made me enjoy my family and friends as well as those I've met through cake decorating even more. I truly appreciate the chance to be a part of celebrations, since that is what life is really about!
